On October 31, 2006 CMiYC Labs released the first version of MacCaching. The first 12 hours it was available for download, fifty people downloaded it. That might not seem like many, but that was just a few months ago. Since then, there have been many thousands of downloads, almost three hundred posts in the forums, and we have received hundreds of email messages.

Thank you for all of the support to this point.

I’m proud to announce version 1.0 of MacCaching!

Here is what is new for 1.0:

  • Garmin and Magellan GPS Support (USB or Serial)
  • Direct Export to CacheMate, iPod Contacts (vCard), Text Files, HTML, or GPX file.
  • Support for iPod Notes function
  • Smart Cachelists for automatic managing of caches
  • Connections to Google Maps and Geocaching.com
  • View and Export logs from GPX (single or pocket query)
  • Streamlined and improved user interface
  • New database providing huge speed improvements
  • Text and HTML exports support user-definable templates
  • Extensive Help System (and Quick Start Guide)
  • Support importing ZIP files (e.g. from Pocket Queries)
  • GC Code stripping for older GPS Units.
  • View and Edit Coordinates in “GPS Format” (e.g. N 34ยบ 12.593′)
  • … and a huge number of bugs have been squashed!

Also new is MacCaching’s license. MacCaching is now under a Shareware license. If you find it useful after 30 days, please register it.

If you donated (any amount) to the MacCaching project before the 1.0 release, you will receive a free lifetime license. (I think we have contacted everyone, but if we missed you send an email to feedback@maccaching.com.)
